Traditional Knowledge
Robin lives in Ela Masu, a small village in Kefamu. He remembers his youth and shares his mixed feelings about the ancestral ways of life that have slowly disappeared in his community. In the past, fires were lit using a traditional technique inherited from his distant ancestors. Intergenerational transmission was the norm, but today’s younger generations have lost this knowledge and rely solely on modern technologies and tools. No longer passed down by their elders, these old techniques are now in danger of disappearing.
